How Spider got on the Middle School NXT Team

I came on the NXT middle school team becuse the 7th graders have a trip to Boston the same weekend as the competition. I was the builder on one of the 5th grade teams and I was asked to join and help the middle school team. It has been very fun so far. The one thing I have learned is that you need lots of communication abilities. Also, that one little mistake can cause problems for the whole team. I am very excited about going to Dayton, Ohio in a few weeks. We have a bottle drive on Saturday 2nd to help support our trip. The bottles will be collected at the Mendon Market Place from 9-noon.

Who Knows? The Shadow Knows

Hi, my name Shadow and I am on team GearFreeze for FLL. I was on the presentation side of the team but helped out on all sides. Team GearFreeze worked as a team and that is why we won the Chili Competition and came in second for the U of R regional. We earned the invite to Dayton, Ohio national competition because of all our hard work. I love the FLL because I have a lot of friends and best of all… FUN! Unfortunately, I have to go to Boston with my 7th grade class for a school field trip and cannot go to Dayton. But, all the other HFL teams that came together to help team GearFreeze will represent our school and our region very well.

How Sushi Dude Joined The Team

Hi, I am builder/programmer Sushi Dude, you might not know but I was not originally on team GearFreeze. I was from team Climate Connecters, another HFL team. Team Climate Connecters was mostly consisted of littler kids than team GearFreeze (I was one of the older ones on Climate Connecters). Team Climate Connecters had fun in the first competition, but did not qualify for the regionals. So the team was ended =( . Soon GearFreeze, who did qualify for the regionals, worked it’s way up to the nationals but, there was a problem. Most of the original GearFreeze members could not go to the nationals. So team GearFreeze ask some of the other HFL teams for help, so why not join! I told them I would join and BAM, I was in! I am now the Master Builder and a programmer. It was (and is) fun in both of my teams, I look forward to going to the nationals and I hope we win (wish us luck).

How we got where we are

Hola, me llamo Diego Gushue. Team GearFreeze loves doing Lego robotics. At the qualifiers we won a trophy for best performance. We also got invited to Dayton, Ohio because we did really well at the regional championship. I myself can't go because the entire 7th grade at HF-L Middle School is going on a field trip to Boston for three days! But I know the rest of the team is going to have a blast at Dayton. Adios.

Ohio Competition-The begining

Hola! We are team GearFreeze in HF-L N.Y. Since this is the first post on our blog I'd like to give a little background on our invatation to Dayton, Ohio. At first we were so excited that we were going to Ohio we were SCREAMING. But then we realized, sadly, that the days of the competition are the same days as our school's 7th grade Boston trip. To put this in perspective we only have 2 non-7th graders, in other words our team was depleted by more than half so we had to "borrow" some people from the two teams at HF-L and our elementary school club. So now our teams ages range from 9-14, a wide variety. So that's just a little explanation of our "current" teams status.
